If you’re staying a couple of days or more in Bogota, you probably don’t want to stay all day inside. On the few sunny days, you’ll find that there’s always something to do here, but make sure to take an umbrella, por si las moscas (just in case)
In this blog post, you’ll find some must-see places in Bogota. You can go hiking, walking and eating, you’ll never get bored.
Monserrate
Monserrate is one of the places you have to go to if you’re in Bogota. You can either go up by stairs or cableway and there you can see the whole city and its surroundings. It’s also a great spot if you want to exercise and go up to 1605 steps, a great place to train if you feel like hiking in one of our gorgeous mountains.
Barrio la Candelaria
If you want to know about Colombia’s history, you should definitely go to la Candelaria. It’s a place full of colors, museums, and historic sites. When walking around, you’ll find important places like the Plaza de Bolivar, Botero’s Museum, the Justice Palace, and you can see the many churches and antique architecture around the area.
If you want to eat visit la Plaza de Mercado Paloquemao a place filled with tradition and gastronomy from all over the country.
Carrera 7
If you’re in the city on a Sunday and enjoy exercising, you could go on a walk or a bike ride through 7th street. Every Sunday from 7 am to 2 pm, this path is cleared from cars, buses, and motorcycles, so people can exercise and enjoy the city, another great way to get to know the city.
Plaza de Mercado Paloquemao
When trying our food, there are no wrongs or rights, but you should go to la Plaza de Mercado Paloquemao. This place is filled with tradition and gastronomy from all over the country. Of course, if you’re in Bogota, you have to try the Ajiaco, a chicken and potatoes soup, one of the typical dishes from Bogota. Or you could visit one of the various Plazas de Mercado in the city, where you can find many fruits and vegetables that are native to our country.
Quebrada la Vieja
If you’re looking for a place to go hiking or going on a walk in the woods, you can go to ‘la Quebrada la Vieja’, a mountain in the 71st. You can walk through different trails and enjoy a peaceful moment with nature. Make sure you make a reservation here.
