What Do You Need To Do To Get New Digital Nomad Visa?

Step 1: Gather the required documents
Before applying for the digital nomad visa, you will need to gather the following documents:
- A photo (white background, neutral expression, no accessories covering the head or face, size less than 300 kb, 3x4cm, and jpg format)
- A valid passport (photocopy where the personal data is, valid for at least six (6) months)
- Proof of income, such as a bank statement or letter from your employer (monthly income has been at least $3.000.000 COP or $610 USD approx during the last three months)
- Health insurance (for the time to stay in the country)
- The criminal records (optional if they ask for that information)
- A completed and signed application form
Step 2: Submit the application and payment

After applying, you’ll receive an email with an identification number for your process. You’ll also get instructions to pay for the study of the Visa ($52 USD). If you don’t pay, your visa will be denied.
Step 3: Wait for the decision
After submitting your application, you will need to wait for a decision from the Colombian government. The processing time can vary, but it typically takes around 2-4 weeks.
Step 4: Enter Colombia
Once your visa is approved, you must pay the expedition fees ($170 USD) within ten days. After this, you will receive a “Certificado de Registro” (Registration Certificate) that you must present upon arrival in Colombia. Once you arrive in the country, you will have 30 days to register your visa with Migración Colombia and obtain a “Tarjeta de Extranjería” (Foreigner’s ID Card).
Step 5: Renewal
Your digital nomad visa is valid for two years. After that, you will have to renew it. The renewal process is similar to the initial application process.
It’s important to note that the digital nomad visa does not require you to have a job offer in Colombia or to be affiliated with a Colombian company.
